A WOMAN has been honoured with a Citizen of the Year award in recognition of more than 40 years service to Guides in the village of Sedgefield.
Jackie Postgate was presented with an engraved glass bowl by Sedgefield Mayor Maxine Robinson.
She was named Sedgefield Citizen of the Year at the mayor's reception in the village parish hall.
The award, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club, recognises people who make a large contribution to the community through their volunteer work.
Rotary Club president Stephen Croft said: "Jackie has been selected because of her lifetime devotion to Guiding in Sedgefield and the impact she has made on generations of young people in the area.
"Without Jackie and many people like her, the quality of life for people in all our communities would be much poorer. This is our opportunity to say a big public thank you."
