THOUSANDS of people visited one of the region's museums as it was transformed into a craft and farmers' market.
More than 50 market stalls packed into the grounds of Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, County Durham, for yesterday's event.
Museum staff dressed in period costume and Barnard Castle Band performed for visitors.
A steam organ, donated for the day by local businessman John Toulson, added to the festive spirit, and there were seasonal activities and a Santa's grotto.
The event was supported by non-profit group Teesdale Marketing and gave local businesses a chance to showcase their goods.
An event spokesman said that more than 3,500 people visited.
He said: "It really was fantastic. It was a lot better than last year and far exceeded everyone's expectations."
