A partnership has been formed to protect and promote part of the region's geological heritage.
Jane Worrall, a geologist and specialist in trace fossils, will co-ordinate and produce a local geodiversity action plan for the north-east of North Yorkshire.

Ms Worrall said: "I'm up for the challenge. I got to know and love North Yorkshire when I did research as a student on the coast around Scarborough."
