REGULARS to the Beckfields pub in Ingleby Barwick have proved themselves as generous as the managers are brave.
General manager Dave McCann and assistant manager Sue Hewitson raised £3,000 for the Marie Curie cancer charity by taking part in a sponsored parachute jump.
They were joined in the jump by Mr McCann's brothers, Paddy and Ewan, and his father, Mick.
Mr McCann said: "Our gran was in a Marie Curie centre last year and the nurses there were absolutely amazing. We said back then that we had to do something to help.
"We saw the parachute jumps on a website and, to tell the truth, we were a bit drunk at the time.
"But we said we'd do it, so there was no going back on it then.
"The experience was out of this world, but there was a lot of anticipation.
"It was quite nerve racking, especially since we'd had the regulars winding us up in the weeks beforehand."
