A CHARITY is desperately hoping to find homes for two dogs.
Katy, a ten-year-old collie-cross, was found tied to a fence near a service station at Bowburn, near Durham.
Pauline Wilson, from the National Animal Sanctuary Support League (NASSL), who took Katy in, said: "Katy being abandoned does not make sense; she is a complete mystery.
"She is doing really well now and has started coming out of her shell a bit.
"She is an older, quiet dog, and very understanding. An older couple would be suitable, people who like gentle exercise. She gets on well with other dogs and cats do not faze her at all."
Two other dogs were found on St Helens Industrial Estate, outside Bishop Auckland, County Durham
David Coates, of Custom Designs, which is based on the estate, said: "They were roaming around outside our place for quite a while and they were outside sheltering from the rain. I think the owners must have moved and they had just abandoned the dogs.
"We called the two dogs Bob and Sally. Bob was a little ginger dog and Sally had a bit of sheepdog in her.
"We found a new home for Bob and he is really happy there now.
"We eventually took Sally to the animal sanctuary and hopefully she will have a home after Christmas.
"She needs a home with someone who has a lot of patience."
