A SCHOOL has become one of the first in the country to gain an award for its high standards in computer technology.
The National ICT Mark is awarded to schools thatdemonstrate quality in computer technology.
Longfield School in Darlington managed to transfer its Naacemark, an ICT quality assurance award, to a National ICT Mark.
Neil McLean, executive director of educational practice at British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta), said in a letter to the school: "You are one of the first 100 schools to be successful in gaining this award and you should be very pleased as only 69 per cent of schools applying for assimilation have been successful to date."
Headteacher Keith Cotgrave, said: "We are delighted to receive national recognition for our work. The staff at Longfield have fully embraced the new technologies that really bring lessons alive."
