A BURGLAR who leapt from a moving car was jailed yesterday for three years and three months.
Steven Revell had taken the keys to a £4,500 Rover from a property in South Burnside, Houghton-le-Spring, which he broke into early on August 5.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that, after a fast pursuit by police, Revell mounted a pavement, then jumped out and tried to escape over a 6ft wall but was arrested.
Revell, 25, of Newstead Court, Glebe, Washington, admitted aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and burglary.
He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
