A TEAM of health workers who care for young prisoners has won an award.
The health care team at Northallerton Young Offenders Institute (YOI) won the facilities category at the recent Yorkshire and Humber Prison Area Team awards.
The team was praised for having a range of skills and talents not normally found in an establishment of its size.
The team is managed by Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust.
Northallerton YOI governor Bill Shaw said: "This small, dynamic team has to deal with a huge turnover of offenders, which is second only to Leeds in the Yorkshire and Humberside area.
"To manage this to such a high standard is a tribute to the innovative and inspirational team that is in place."
Colin Wilkie, general manager for mental health services in Hambleton and Richmondshire, said: "This is an outstanding achievement for all the health centre staff and recognises the contribution of all staff who have worked at the prison health centre over the past two years."
