A FURNITURE help scheme that provides household goods to needy people will hold a sale to boost funds.
The County Durham Furniture Help Scheme will open for the sale on January 14.
Volunteers regularly collect unwanted reusable furniture from homes across Sedgefield Borough for storage at its base in Unit 20, Avenue 3, Chilton Industrial Estate.
It is then given to people on benefits or low incomes, who may not be able to afford new furniture, in exchange for a donation.
A spokesperson for the group said: "We have all sorts of furniture available from three-piece suites to microwaves and washing machines and house clearances are a speciality.
"In order to carry out the work, we are always on the look out for volunteers who may have a couple of hours each week to spare."
To volunteer for the group or to donate furniture, call (01388) 721509.
