CHRISTMAS revellers will be able to work off extra festive pounds at the leisure centres in Hambleton this year.
For the first time, centres will not been subjected to annual maintenance shutdowns over the holidays - and will only be closed for the four bank holidays at Christmas and New Year.
Only the pool at Hambleton Leisure Centre, in Northallerton, will be closed. It shuts on December 22 and re-opens six days later.
The remaining facilities - gym, all weather pitch and sports hall - are not affected by the closure.
But there will be no maintenance shutdowns at the centres in Thirsk, Bedale and Stokesley as all the work can be undertaken around normal opening hours.
Hambleton Leisure Centre, Thirsk Swimming Pool and Stokesley Leisure Centre will close for the Christmas break at 3pm on December 24, with Bedale Leisure Centre shutting up shop 30 minutes earlier. They will open as normal four days later.
The closed signs will go up again at the same times on December 31, but only for one day. Bedale will re open at 9am on January 2; Hambleton at 7.15am; Stokesley at 7am and Thirsk at 8am. The centres get back to normal on January 3.
