PRIMARY school children have been presented with certificates for their work to improve health.
Six-year-old Kurt Robertson received the Healthy School Certificate on behalf of his schoolfriends in Year One and Two at Cassop Primary School.
The children were awarded the County Durham and Darlington Healthy School Standard after they danced to the rock 'n' roll song Rock Around The Clock to represent the US at an Around The World dance festival organised by Durham City School Sports Partnership.
The children enjoyed themselves planning their own energetic dance, which involved a lot of leaping, reaching and twisting.
Headmaster Jim McManners said: "It is very encouraging to receive this award.
"We have always recognised the importance of encouraging children to be mentally and physically active and to feel happy at school."
Elaine Jackson, of Durham and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trust, which supports the awards scheme, said: "I would like to congratulate all the staff and pupils at Cassop Primary School.
"I am delighted so many schools are working with us to raise awareness of the importance of health."
