A MEETING has been called to try to set up more youth facilities in a County Durham village.
There are more than 100 teenagers in Heighington, near Newton Aycliffe, but little for them to do in the evenings.
This means they often end up hanging around the streets, or at bus shelters.
Now a group of parents have come together to try and provide some sort of entertainment, or a club for the youths.
Councillor Gerald Lee, who represents Heighington on Darlington Borough Council, has arranged a meeting for those who are interested in helping to set up, or run, youth provision.
Naomi Ryan, from Darlington Borough Council, will also be at the meeting to help out with the initial stages.
Coun Lee said: "I have heard it said many times that there is little in the village for the young, well now is your chance to help to change this.
"Please join us on Monday night, even if you can help occasionally - it all helps and who knows, it could keep you young."
The meeting will be held in Heighington village hall at 7pm next Monday, December 12.
