YOUNGSTERS at a Sunday school are supporting underprivileged families in Africa - with the help of a goat.
Children from All Saints' Church, Hartburn, took their goat Millie on a sponsored walk to raise money to buy a goat for charity Farm Africa's Get Your Goat Appeal.
Although the original target was one goat, their fundraising efforts will be able to provide a small herd.
The group raised £405 from their expedition, around Ropner Park in Stockton-on-Tees, which is enough to support 15 goats for poor rural communities in Africa.
Hattie Reeve, nine, from the Sunday school, said: "I am really pleased that we raised enough money for so many goats, because it is sad that some people don't have as much as we do.
"It was good fun taking Millie for a walk. We got to go in the new playground at the park, but she had to stay outside."
Glenn Bennington, teacher at the Sunday school, said: "The children have been fantastic, and we are very proud of them.
"It's important we all appreciate the importance of helping others not so well off, and this project has certainly delivered that in such a practical and enjoyable way."
The Reverend Phillip Ashdown said: "I am delighted the children managed to raise so much to help those in need in Africa. This appeal caught the imagination of all the children and their achievement has been an inspiration to us all."
