A MOTHER who abandoned her 15-year-old daughter for a new life abroad has married her holiday romance lover.

Elaine Walker, 46, exchanged vows with waiter Ali Murat, 26 -her fourth husband - in a ceremony on a beach in Turkey.

She sparked national outrage when she took her posessions from their family home in North Yorkshire and moved to Turkey to be with Mr Murat, who she met while on holiday, without even telling her daughter, Laura Wilthew, who returned home to find a note.

Laura was devastated and described her mother as a monster, saying she never wanted to see her again.

But as the newlyweds married on the Turkish beach, the new Mrs Murat, who has five had children by five fathers, said: "I feel like a princess and Ali is my handsome prince.

"I am the luckiest woman alive."

She also revealed that she plans to reverse a sterilisation operation so the pair can have a child.

And she said she had no regrets, but still missed her daughter, Laura.

She said: "She is my daughter, but things are still very raw and I think it is best that she was not here on my big day. I am not going to let Laura cloud my happiness."

Mrs Murat, from Redmire, near Leyburn, wore an ivory satin dress and cream flowers in her hair.

She fled to Turkey in August - taking her older daughter, Stacey, 17, who also met a Turkish boyfriend while on holiday.

Mrs Murat said Stacey was to marry her Turkish fiance, Huseyin Mohktar, 26, next year. They were witnesses at the beach wedding.

When her mother and sister abandoned Laura, social services officials became involved, but there are no plans to prosecute Mrs Murat for neglecting her daughter because she is abroad.

In September, The Northern Echo revealed that as a result of the scandal, Laura had been reunited with her father, George Wilthew, from Darlington, who she has not seen for a decade.

Laura and Mr Wilthew declined to comment on the marriage.
