CUSTOMERS at a town pub have raised hundreds of pounds for a national charity.
The Surtees Arms, in Ferryhill Station, held a fundraising night last month during a national four-week campaign to raise awareness of the condition.
The event, which included entertainment, karaoke, a raffle and auction of footballers from the pub team, raised £800, which was yesterday donated to Cancer Research UK.
Organiser Emma Toas said: "It was a brilliant night and I'm really pleased with the total.
"I want to thank everyone at the pub and everyone who made a donation, especially Sedgefield Borough Council's Carelink staff, Asda Spennymoor and Saks in Bishop Auckland who donated lots of prizes and money."
