STAFF and pupils at an east Cleveland college have received praise from Ofsted inspectors.
Prior Pursglove College, Church Walk, Guisborough, was inspected under the Government's new-style college inspection in October.
Under guidelines, inspectors are asked to investigate five, rather than seven, key questions, as well as assessing the college's overall effectiveness.
Inspectors rated Prior as good in student achievements, resources, teaching and its overall leadership and management.
They commented positively on high pass rates at advanced level, and improved pass and retention rates on vocational courses, which are now above national averages.
Principal Stephen Whitehead said: "I am delighted with the report. We were already recognised as a good college because of our last inspection and our excellent reputation.
"This inspection was intended to check our strengths and our capacity to improve. I am glad to say that the inspectors recognised many significant strengths. However, we are determined not to be complacent - we are always striving to make further improvements.
"This is a tremendous early Christmas present for my staff."
