THREE youths who robbed a bank customer as he withdrew money from a city centre cashpoint were jailed yesterday.
Kevin Sayers, Thomas Allen and Lee Little surrounded Christopher Dunn before snatching £10 and his debit card as he stood at the Lloyds TSB machine in Maritime Place, Sunderland, in the early hours of April 24.
The incident was captured on CCTV, which showed the 22-year-old victim being jostled and pushed.
The footage, which was shown at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, showed the victim looking stunned and holding his head in his hands when the incident was over.
Sayers, 19, of Radlett Road, Sunderland, Allen, 19, of Hartside Road, Sunderland, and Little, 20, of James William Street, also Sunderland, all admitted robbery.
Sayers also admitted stealing a mobile phone from a 16-year-old girl in the street while on bail for the robbery.
All three were jailed for two years and Sayers was ordered to serve an extra six months for the theft of the phone.
Mr Recorder Ben Nolan told them: "Your victim was vulnerable, he was using a cashpoint and we all know cashpoints are vulnerable places for people who need, for whatever reason, to withdraw money at night.
"You took advantage of that vulnerability.
"The court has to send out the message to cashpoint robbers that offences of this sort will not be tolerated and will be met with sentences of custody."
