Santa's grotto goes on tour: FATHER Christmas will be touring Skelton on Saturday. He will leave the Civic Hall at 9.30am, travelling along the High Street, onto Station Road, past the primary school and along Bylands Road before returning to the Civic Hall. Children can visit Santa in his grotto at the Civic Hall between 10.30am and 11.30am, then again from noon to 1pm. Each youngster will receive a present, sweets and fruit. Admission is £2, with all proceeds donated to the Blooming Light community group, which raises funds for floral displays and Christmas lights. Other activities include a bouncy castle, cake stall and games.
CHRISTMAS FAIR: A Christmas fair will be held in Guisborough next week. The event, organised by The Friends of Sunnyfield House, takes place on Saturday, December 17, from 10am to 4pm, at Sunnyfield House, Westgate. Admission is free and all proceeds will be donated to the Sunnyfield House community centre. To book a stall call (01287) 636226.
NATIVITY PLAY: Newconmen Methodist Sunday school, Redcar, is holding its annual nativity play on Sunday, December 18, at 10.45am. The family service will be conducted by Trevor Hume. At 4pm, Christingle will be celebrated at the annual candlelight service of lessons and carols. This will be conducted by the Reverend Malcolm Newman. Tea and mince pies will be served.
LIBRARY VISIT: Children will be able to visit east Cleveland's mobile library next week. Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's mobile unit will be at Lingdale Primary School on Tuesday, from 9.45am to 10.30am. Working in partnership with the East Cleveland Rural Children's Centre, the morning will include games, songs and stories with a Christmas theme.
CONCERT SELL-OUT: A Christmas concert on Tuesday by the Rosedale Gilbert and Sullivan Society, at the Sir William Turner's Almshouses, Kirkleatham, is a sell-out.
CHRISTMAS CAROLS: The Levendale Singers present their Christmas concert in the church of St Mary and St Romuald, High Street, Yarm, on Monday, at 7.30pm. There will be a retiring collection.
