SKILFUL karate chops helped Saltburn youngster Connor Marshall on the road to success.
Nine-year-old Connor, of The Parkway, was picked to represent his club and train with the England squad in Huddersfield.
The Saltburn Primary School pupil, who took up the sport two years ago, spent the weekend sharpening his skills and taking part in two competitions.
And the karate kid beat off 11 other competitors to win first prize in one fighting competition and runner-up in another.
His father, James Marshall, said: "They all spent the morning training, then in the afternoon it was entirely up to Connor if he wanted to enter the competitions. We just said hex might as well go for it and we didn't expect at all that he would win - obviously he did which is great.
