POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run accident, in which a teen- ager was knocked off her scooter.
The accident happened at the junction between Newgate Street and Railway Street, in Bishop Auckland, on Friday, November 25.
Shortly after 6.30pm, the Peugeot scooter was travelling south along Newgate Street when it was involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot 106 pulling out of Railway Street.
The rider of the scooter, a 16-year-old girl, was thrown from the machine and sustained a number of minor injuries, which required hospital treatment.
Closed circuit television footage shows the driver of the Peugeot to be white, female, about 5ft 4 to 5ft 7ins with dark collar length hair and was wearing dark clothing.
She initially stopped to check on the rider, but left the scene quickly, without leaving her details, after finding out that the police had been called.
