A FREE Christmas wreath-making event has been arranged with everyone invited to join in the fun.
The event is being staged in the Eastfield-Westfields Doorstep Green, South Moor, Stanley, by Groundwork West Durham, from 10am to noon on Saturday.
The Doorstep Green was officially opened earlier this year and provides a green space within the urban area for the public to use. The event is being held to promote the site and encourage it to be used.
The Eastfields-Westfields Doorstep Green project, which has been running for three years and cost about £270,000, has been developed by South Moor Partnership, working with Derwentside District Council and supported by Groundwork West Durham.
The Eastfields-Westfields project is one of 200 Doorstep Greens being created in England under a Countryside Agency initiative supported by more than £12m of money from the Big Lottery Fund, under the fund's Green Spaces and Sustainable Communities' Initiative.
From 1pm to 2pm, residents of William Street, in South Moor, will get the opportunity to find out about the Gate It project on the green space at William Street, while enjoying free tea, coffee and mince pies.
Anyone wanting more information is asked to contact Joanne Crumplin, on (01207) 693202.
