A £105m improvement plan for homes across Middlesbrough has been launched by Erimus Housing.
Thousands of tenants will benefit after a successful pilot project was carried out by the housing association.
The organisation has now signed contracts with Rok Group, Dunelm Property Services and its own team to take on the project.
During the initial trial, hundreds of homes were modernised, including kitchens, bathrooms, doors, windows and boilers.
Denise Johnson, from Park End, who recently had work carried out on her home, said: "I am delighted with the work. It is such a big job, but it is nothing to worry about."
More than 11,000 properties across Middlesbrough will be surveyed to see what improvements are needed.
Bob Brady, chairman of the Erimus board, said: "This project will make a massive difference to the lives of our tenants and ensures they are at the heart of Erimus Housing.
"Our pilot project has proved to be a success and problems have been ironed out.We look forward to a long and successful relationship with our partners, making sure we deliver our promises to tenants."
Work will be carried out over the next four years and contractors will soon be writing to tenants whose homes will be improved within the next year of the programme. They will then hold events where residents can have a look at some of the choices that willbe available to them.
