Hundreds of villagers are expected to take part in a torch parade on Thursday.
The procession by residents of Cockfield, near Barnard Castle, County Durham, will start from the village's primary school, at 6.30pm.
Led by three pipers, the parade will wind its way through the main street, which is to be lit up with a large display of coloured bulbs, plaques and a Christmas tree.
The walkers will then make their way to Cockfield Workingmen's Club, where Middleton-in-Teesdale Band will give a carol concert. Hot dogs, mince pies and mulled wine will be served. Children will be able to talk to Santa and receive a gift for a £1 donation.
Joan Simpson, secretary of the festive committee, said: "We have had a lot of support, for which we are grateful, so it should be a memorable evening for everyone."
