Police chiefs are to deliver their verdict on the impact of radical changes to a North-East town centre this week.
Traffic systems in Darlington have seen major alterations in recent weeks, with bus stops moved and routes changed.
The work has been carried out as part of the borough council's £6.5m pedestrian heart project.
However, it has faced criticism from passengers and traders, who claim they have suffered a loss of business.
The council is adamant that the development will make Darlington a more attractive destination for both residents and shoppers.
Police officials, who have expressed concerns about "deficiencies" in the scheme, in the past, are to address councillors this week.
The environment scrutiny committee meeting takes place in the town hall on Friday, December 9.
The matter was due to be considered at the committee's meeting last month, but was withdrawn at the last minute - to the anger of Conservative councillors.
A report to the committee says the work is going as well as could be expected.
