A UNIVERSITY is celebrating after students named it the best in England.
More than 10,000 undergraduates from 170 institutions were asked how they rated their experiences at university, in a survey by The Times Higher Education Supplement.
Sunderland University polled the highest ratings for an English university, ahead of Oxford and Cambridge.
Students said Sunderland's facilities, social life, prospects and course satisfaction was the best in the country.
University vice-chancellor Professor Peter Fidler said: "It is wonderful to have such a glowing report from the students, whose opinion is so important. This recognition highlights how much good work has gone on at Sunderland over the past few years."
