A HOUSING development on the site of a former school has won a design award.
St Andrew's, in Castle Howard Road, Malton, was the overall winner in the Ryedale District Council Good Design and Construction Awards 2005.
Two semi-detached houses have been built on the site, which used to be St Andrew's School, and more recently the St Andrew's Christian Centre.
The project was designed by Peter Rayment Designs and built by A and D Sturdy, of Rillington.
Lindsay Burr, chairwoman of Ryedale District Council, said: "The standard of entries for the 2005 Good Design and Construction Awards has been fantastic. The project embodies all of the qualities that we look for in our design awards, in terms of design and workmanship."
