A KEEN piano player celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends this week.
Elsie Burton was born in Easingwold on November 27, 1905, and has lived in the town all her life.
On Sunday, her family held a party for her at Easingwold Golf Club.
Fellow residents of Park Close Bungalows organised a surprise party for her on Wednesday.
Mrs Burton has been a member of the bungalows' social club since it started 15 years ago and has spent many hours playing on the piano in the common room.
During the party, Hambleton councillor, John Coulson, presented Mrs Burton with a flower arrangement.
Mrs Burton is the youngest of three children.
She said she would have liked to have trained to become a hairdresser, but stayed at home to help her mother.
She married George Alexander Burton at the local Methodist chapel at the age of 27 and the couple had two children, Janet and Stuart.
