TRADITIONAL lions and dragons will lead the celebrations at a North-East university to welcome in the Chinese New Year.
The Year of the Dog begins on January 30 and Chinese students at the University of Sunderland, along with members of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, will take part in the celebrations on Saturday, January 28.
Those attending will enjoy a Chinese meal, performances and entertainment, including a traditional Chinese lion dance.
Chinese students make up a significant part of the university's international community, which is why the New Year celebrations have become a major event at Sunderland.
The event attracts interest from students, staff and members of the local community.
Anyone wishing to attend the event is advised to book on 0191-515 3544.
