A CHARITY night held in memory of a popular local boy has raised more than £1,000 for young diabetes sufferers.
The event held at Evenwood Workingmen's Club in memory of nine-year-old Peter Buckle, who died in May, was attended by more than 200 people.
Peter, who was known to people in the village as Bruisie, suffered from diabetes and epilepsy.
Money raised from the event, which totalled £1,184, was donated to Dr Bill Lamb's Insulin Pump Appeal, at Bishop Auckland Hospital.
Katie Million, Peter's sister, thanked everyone who helped with the night, particularly, Alison Smart.
She said: "It was a great success, there was a massive raffle, and all the prizes were donated free of charge from local people and businesses.
"It showed how much everyone cared for Bruisie."
