PUPILS have shown themselves to be smart at running their own businesses after taking part in a franchise course at a comprehensive school.
They have all obtained good results following the Young Enterprise project at the school, in Staindrop.
Under the leadership of teacher Alyson Carr, who is school director of business and enterprise, they sold shares to raise start-up capital, then set up a system of products, suppliers and customers. Their company name is Revolution.
Ms Carr said: "They have solved problems, managed risks and learned to work together as a team. As franchisees, they retain control over how the products are marketed and sold, as well as the quality and standards of the business.
All their products will be on sale at the school's Christmas fair on Saturday, December 10, from 10am to noon. The range includes baubles, cards, festive treats, Christmas crackers, magnets and other items in a Santa's grotto. Admission to the fair is 50p.
