POLICE in Bishop Auckland are appealing for help to trace an elderly motorist who was involved in a car accident two weeks ago.
At about 12.30pm, on Thursday November 17, a man was knocked off his bicycle by a car at the junction between Copeland Road and A688 West Auckland Road, in West Auckland.
The driver of the car, a blue Ford Ka, stopped to speak to the cyclist, a local man in his 40s, who sustained a fractured ankle as a result of the collision.
The motorist, who is described as between 60 and 70 years old, slim and wore a flat cap, then got back into his car and drove off.
PC Rebecca Hughes said: "The driver has not been seen since, so are appealing for him to come forward so we can speak to him, or for witnesses to the accident to help with our inquiries."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Hughes on 0845 6060365.
