A FURNITURE and interiors retailer is preparing to launch her business online.
Nicola Garrington plans to set up a vivedirect.com, to go with her interiors store in Scotswood Road, in Newcastle.
The 40-year-old started her career in retail at 18, working with the John Lewis Partnership for four years before setting up a Principles store for the Burton Group, at the Gateshead MetroCentre.
She went on to run an interior restoration business for 12 years, with services that included redecoration, joinery, plasterwork, French polishing and re-upholstery, before setting up Vive four years ago.
"Vive is different because we want to offer products that are not available everywhere. Regulars really appreciate the fact that each time they come into the store, there is always something new and unique," she said.
"Vive has a minimum mark-up policy, which in simple terms means we do not mark-up to mark-down, so everyone gets the best price in the first place without any gimmicky promotions. The result is that often our retail price is comparable to other stores' sale price."
Initially the online business will focus on smaller accessories, unusual artwork and gifts, with more bulky goods such as settees and beds following.
