A couple's dream wedding became a nightmare from the moment they arrived at a sleazy Mexican holiday resort.
Karen and Raymond Collings splashed out £4,000 to get hitched at the Blue Bay Getaway and Spa in Cancun.
They expected everything to be perfect but watched in dismay as their stay descended into a comedy of errors.
On their arrival they realised to their horror that the complex was a "swingers' resort" with couples openly having sex in the swimming pool.
They had to be moved to three different rooms within two days because the first two suites were covered with mould.
Then they discovered their wedding co-ordinator, organised through holiday operator First Choice, knew nothing of their marital plans.
The couple's bad luck continued when their wedding day had to be postponed as Hurricane Stan struck the Mexican coast.
To add insult to injury they had to pay the judge again for marrying them on the re-arranged date.
And when Mrs and Mrs Collings did eventually go through with their beach ceremony things didn't get any better when the flowers for the ceremony arrived an hour late.
Now the disillusioned pair are demanding that First Choice refund the full price of their honeymoon as recompense.
Mrs Collings, 29, said: "I have lost count the number of times I have cried.
People say you never forget your wedding and honeymoon but for us it will be for all the wrong reasons.
"My husband and I got approached twice by swingers, we were shocked and disgusted. There is no way we would have booked the hotel if we knew it was a swingers' hotel."
The couple, from Jarrow, South Tyneside, aren't even sure their wedding is legal after the wrong information was included on their wedding certificate.
Mrs Collings said: "The date of the wedding and my birth date are wrong. I haven't been able to change my bank details as a result. The whole experience has been a total nightmare."
A spokeswoman for First Choice said: "We help hundreds of couples to marry every year and pride ourselves on achieving very high levels of customer satisfaction.
"First Choice regret that Mr and Mrs Collings were unhappy with their wedding at the Blue Bay Getaway in Cancun and would like to thank the couple for highlighting their concerns.
"First Choice takes all customer complaints extremely seriously and, having reviewed the Collings' case, will be in touch with them shortly to offer further recompense.
"First Choice is also working closely with the Mexican authorities to obtain a new wedding certificate for Mr and Mrs Collings."
