SPORTING students from a Darlington college have won places in the national finals of a biathlon competition.
Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College sent representatives to compete in the Northern Region Biathlon Competition, which was held at Ampleforth College, near York.
The girls' team, which consisted of Katherine James, Sarah James, Kirsty Livingstone and Karly Cresser, worked hard to finish third overall. They will now go on to compete in the national finals.
Phil Moore and Stephen Turnbull, from the boys' team, did very well individually.
Stephen came second and Phil fourth. They, too, have won places in the national finals.
Julia Atkinson, the college's head of PE, said: "Our students were fantastic. They really do deserve their places in the national finals."
Ms Atkinson also competed in the staff biathlon at Ampleforth. She was the fastest runner and came second in the swimming event, giving her first place overall.
