MORE than 1,500 shoppers from across the region helped to make the annual Christmas shopping fair at Castle Howard a success.
The event was the fifth to be held at the famous stately home by the NSPCC's Norton and Villages Committee.
About £32,000 was raised from donations, ticket sales and money generated through goods sold by the stall-holders.
This money will help the NSPCC to fund a number of local projects in North Yorkshire, including the Almond Tree Family Support Project at Catterick Garrison.
Chairwoman of the committee, Philippa Webster, said: "We would like to thank the Howard family for hosting the event, members of the public and local companies whose generosity has helped us to raise a record amount this year."
She added: "Planning for next year's event has already started and we hope that even more local people will support the event and help us continue to make a difference to the lives of children and young people."
