A LINK between two ancient buildings will be celebrated at a concert this weekend.
The Chapel Choir of St John's College, Durham, will sing Choral Evensong in Gibside Chapel, near Rowlands Gill, Gateshead, at 3pm on Sunday.
Gibside was the home of George Bowes, ancestor of the late Queen Mother, and the building is now in the possession of the National Trust.
The chapel was built shortly after George Bowes died, and its vault is his final resting place. Other family members are buried in the college's chapel.
College spokesman Rob Marshall said: "Links between St John's College and the Bowes family are much celebrated and this will be a poignant event for many reasons."
