MIDDLETON Hall retirement home has appointed MARTIN SHEEKEY as head chef.
Middleton Hall is an independent home on the outskirts of Middleton St George, between Yarm and Darlington.
Mr Sheekey has moved to Middleton Hall from The School House restaurant, in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
The 33-year-old father-of-three has cooked at Newcastle United Football Club, local restaurants and residential nursing homes.
He spent his first week at the hall talking to residents.
He said: "The residents like their traditional foods, especially fish, so I am cooking those, but trying to vary the menu more.
"I am also pleased to find that they are trying and enjoying pasta meals and risottos."
Middleton Hall catering manager Jean Geldart said: "We have lots of exciting plans for the future and needed an experienced chef with a vision to help us ensure that our catering is of the same high quality as the rest of our services.
"Martin has just the experience, energy and enthusiasm that we need."
