A MEDIEVAL music concert will take place this weekend, featuring one of the world's finest lute players.
The concert will take place in the ballroom of Brancepeth Castle, near Durham City, and will bring together some of the finest early musicians in the country.
Cornish-born Ben Salfield will play lute, there will be music from Misericordia and singer Helen Barber and medieval dancing from Gaita.
The concert will be at 7.30pm on Saturday, and there will be a two-hour medieval dance workshop starting at 3.30pm.
Mr Salfield said: "I cannot wait to play in the North-East again. It is brilliant up there, so friendly.
"Misericordia are wonderful musicians whom I have known for many years. It will be great to see them and to have the opportunity to play on the same bill as them and Helen Barber, in one of my favourite parts of the UK."
Tickets for the dance workshop are £5, and £8 or £5 concessions for the concert, available at the door.
