TWO attractions have benefited from the hard work of local volunteers.
Richmondshire District Council held a ceremony to say thank-you to the 38 volunteers who help at tourist information centres and give guided walks of Richmond.
Eleven volunteers give tours from April to September. The walks, which started last year, are a huge success and donations from walkers have more than doubled.
On behalf of the guides, council chairman Campbell Dawson presented a total of £750 to representatives of Richmondshire Museum and the Georgian Theatre Royal.
Tourist Information Centre Manager Norman Mahaffy said: "2005 is the year of the volunteer and our walking and tourist information volunteers are fantastic.
