YOUNG actors are to stage their version of one of the most successful musicals in theatre history next week.
Tynedale Academy of Performing Arts (Tapa)is staging Oliver! at Consett Empire Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
Half of the 50-strong cast, all aged from five to 16, will be assessed for their musical theatre grades during the performance.
Tickets for the performances, which start at 7pm on Friday and 2pm and 6pm on Saturday, are £8 for adults or £7 for concessions.
Tickets can be booked from the box office on (01207) 218171.
The academy was set up last year by drama teacher Lesley Lofthouse and meets in Hexham every Saturday in term time.
She said: "We work hard to develop the students' confidence and self-belief, as Tapa is not just for young people wanting a career as a performer. We believe that if young people are given the opportunity to succeed their confidence blossoms.
