FREE karate courses are being organised to help encourage people of all ages to take up the sport.
Vinay Thawait, who has 31 years of teaching experience, is behind the sessions, in Hartlepool, which are open to children from the age of six years and adults.
The free introductory sessions are as follows:
* Eldon Grove Sports Centre, tomorrow and December 1, from 7pm to 8pm
* Stranton Centre, Stranton School, next Tuesday, from 5.30pm to 6.45pm
* Owton Manor Primary School on Tuesday, November 29, from 7.15pm to 8.15pm
Andrew Pearson, sports development manager with Hartlepool Borough Council, said: "The sessions will cover the basics of karate and if people want to pursue it further, there will be a series of weekly classes starting in the New Year at venues throughout the town"
Mr Thawait is a 4th Dan Black Belt holder in the Shito-Ryu/Shuko-Kai style of karate.
He has participated in national and international karate championships and won a number of titles.
