HOUSEHOLDERS are seeing their fuel bills cut by a third, thanks to heating and insulation improvements, a housing association claims.
Yorkshire Coast Homes, from Scarborough, says hundreds of tenants have benefited from new windows and doors, upgraded heating and better cavity wall insulation.
Sarah Bird, customer initiatives manager, said energy efficiency in homes where all the improvements had been carried out rose by 50 per cent.
This resulted in fuel bills dropping by a third, she said.
"Over the coming months we will be continuing to bring those same benefits to more and more tenants."
More than 1,500 properties got new windows and doors in the last financial year, and heating and insulation improvements were carried out in a further 800 homes.
