REHEARSALS are well under way for an amateur dramatics group's annual pantomime in Sedgefield.
Sedgefield Players will perform Mother Goose over four nights next month, but rather than the traditional version, it will be an adaptation bringing in well-known nursery characters such as Jack and Jill, the old woman in the shoe and Simple Simon.
The production will be produced by Walter Howell. The role of the principal girl will be taken by Sarah McGuinness and the principal boy will be Jasmine Tate, who follows in her grandmother Dorothy Tate's footsteps with her love of the amateur stage.
Norma Neal will be in the role of Mother Goose and the Dame. Richie Parry will be in the role of the evil Jabberwok.
The goose will be played by one of the players' youngest members, Janine Yaxley, who is 11.
Daniel Howell and Timothy Jasper will be the two ends of the cow.
The Fishburn Dance School will this year be providing the dance troupe.
The show will be presented in Sedgefield Parish Hall from December 27 to 30 at 7pm each evening.
There will be a matinee on December 27 at 2pm.
Tickets are one sale by calling (01740) 621000 and are priced at £6 (concessions £5). A ten per cent reduction is available for parties of ten or more.
