STUDENTS were given expert advice for the future as they prepare to enter the worlds of work or further education.
Longfield School, in Darlington, held an information evening last week for year 11 students and their parents.
Representatives of the town's two colleges, as well as the armed forces and local training providers, were on hand to talk to youngsters.
Darlington Borough Council officials offered advice on careers in the public sector, while SureStart explained the possibilities available in the childcare business.
The event's co-ordinator, Barbara Parkin, said: "Longfield School is lucky to have such a diverse range of professional organisations and training providers willing to assist pupils at such an important time for them.
"Their input enriches and helps our students in decision-making."
* Youngsters at Longfield School raised £125 for Children in Need with a cross-country run in which participants competed with their hands tied to a friend. The event was organised by Keeley Barkley, of the school council.
