YOUNG people in the Durham dales are being reminded to stay safe when it comes to their sexual health this Christmas.
The Durham Dales Primary Care Trust (PCT) is launching its Be Safe campaign next Monday.
The campaign will run for four weeks, including on World Aids Day on December 1, and will feature a number of events.
School nurses will visit secondary schools across the Durham dales to hand out advice and information.
There will also be postcards and posters passed out, which were designed by young people, and will go on show in schools, colleges, health centres and community centres.
Kaye Bramhald, sexual health outreach worker for the PCT, said: "We feel that World Aids Day is a great opportunity to launch our Christmas Be Safe campaign, and to encourage young people to think about their sexual health during the lead up to Christmas.
"We are using World Aids Day to promote awareness of HIV and Aids to all members of our society, and to emphasise the risks associated with having sex without condoms."
Anyone who wants further information about the events, or any agency that wants an activity pack, is asked to call Kaye Bramhald or Carl Bell at Durham Dales PCT on (01388) 458835.
