CINDERELLA with a twist will take to the stage next week to promote National Anti-Bullying Week.

Youngsters can see the Fizzog theatre company present a free punk panto, called Cinders, at the Arc, in Dovecot Street, Stockton, tomorrow, from 7pm to 9pm.

The play, suitable for youngsters in both primary and lower secondary schools, is a modern version of Cinderella that addresses bullying and ways of dealing with it.

Fizzog will also perform the play for pupils in schools around the borough, followed by workshops, allowing pupils to explore the problems raised and ways in which the characters could stop them.

The performance at the Arc has been organised by Stockton Borough Council's anti-bullying service as part of national anti-bullying week, and is one of many events being run by the service during the week.

Pupils will also contribute to the evening with poetry and dance.

Anna Michele Hantler, anti-bullying officer for Stockton council, said: "This play is a fun way for youngsters to explore the issues surrounding bullying and look at ways of stopping it before it starts.

"This performance is a great opportunity for parents to begin a conversation with their child about bullying and how to best protect themselves from it."

Places at Arc for the performance are limited so booking is essential. To book, visit the Arc box office or call (01642) 525199.
