A PICTORIAL history of Malton has been such a success that it has been republished in a new style.
Around Malton, by Mayor of Norton Towen, John Stone, is now part of the Pocket Images series of English towns and has gone on sale in local bookshops at £5.99.
The book incloudes a potted history of Malton's wealth of history, dating back to when the Romans founded it as Derventio in AD71. The oldest picture is that of the former Church of St Nicholas.
On the front cover is a picture taken at a Michaelmas Fair taken in 1910 - one of hundreds of collected by Mr Stone over the years.
He has also written another local history book, in the Then and Now series, which is still available.
"My collection now stands at over 1,200 strong of Malton, Norton and Old Malton scenes" says Mr Stone, who hopes to resume giving talks about local history when he finishes his civic year as mayor, next May.
