Three sides from the league were all successful in the North Riding County Cup.
Teesside Athletic recorded the biggest win of the trio, defeating Malton St Mary's 3-0, but it was not until late in the game that they secured victory.
The visitors held their own until the 56th minute when Steve Thompson fired home from the edge of the penalty area. Malton were never out of the tie and had chances to equalise before Athletic scored twice in the last three minutes.
A good run by Chris Knight opened up the opportunity for Michael Traynor before Billy Millington struck a tremendous shot from 18 yards.
An only goal after 15 minutes from James Alsop, from a 30-yard free-kick, was all that separated Stokesley SC from McKinlay Park while New Marske edged to a 2-1 victory at Thornaby FC.
Craig Mendum failed to convert a fifth-minute penalty before the Seasiders went in front on 58 minutes through Neil Taylor. Michael Arith levelled and the game was into stoppage time before Taylor clinched the win.
In the League, Willington defeated Ferryhill Athletic 3-0. Former junior Danny Lee cut in from the wing for the opening goal on 67 minutes and eight minutes later David Pickering found the net from the edge of the box. With just a couple of minutes left on the clock, Gavin Luke hit Willington's third goal.
Jarrow lost by three goals to Windscale who were two up inside 17 minutes courtesy of Howard Kirkbride and Darren Donald. Lee Dixon made it three just before the interval.
Harton and Westoe crashed to a 5-0 defeat at Whitehaven for whom Stephen Hewitt struck four times. Robbie Fowler was the other marksman.
After conceding a 50th minute goal to Craig Scott, Wolviston gained a point in a 1-1 draw at Cleator Moor Celtic with an equaliser from Richard Walker.
Boldon CA defeated Coxhoe Athletic 2-1. Darren McGinley and Mark Williams (pen) were on target for the home team with Stephen Clifford responding for Coxhoe.
Birtley Town reached the Third Round of the Wearside League Cup beating Gateshead Low Fell 3-2. At halfway it appeared they were on their way to an easy win after Stephen Rochester bagged a brace.
John Sherlock and Liam Charlton put Gateshead back into the tie before Tony Thirkell clinched the winner.
* Gateshead dropped into the bottom four of the UniBond League Premier Division with a 2-1 defeat at Runcorn.
The Tynesiders took the lead after 21 minutes with a goal by Adam Johnston, but Runcorn scored twice in the last seven minutes through Lee Furlong.
Whitby were beaten 2-1 at home by FA Cup giantkillers Burscough, Carl Richards scoring for them late in the game.
Bishop Auckland's First Division away game at Warrington was postponed.
