AN extra £3m is to be spent on the elderly in North Yorkshire over the next two years.
A spokesman for the county council said among the schemes to benefit would be supporting people in their own homes using new technology, and more help for the elderly to live independent lives rather than be admitted to hospital, residential or nursing care.
He said the social services department is to work with GPs, primary care trusts, housing and voluntary organisations to bring about the improvements.
