A £110,000 attraction was unveiled with a splash at a Stockton leisure centre, yesterday.
Bubble's Water World, at the Splash swimming centre, Stockton, features a 60-metre water flume named after Bubble the Dolphin, the Tees Active mascot.
The entrance to the slide features an underwater theme with specialist lighting and sounds of the ocean.
And on the way down, there is a roller coaster-style drop.
Pupils from Hartburn Primary School, Stockton, were among the first to use the fume, during a specially-arranged swimming session.
Councillor Alex Cunningham, Stockton Borough Council's cabinet member for education, leisure and cultural services, said: "This is the latest new attraction for visitors to our Active Life Centres across the area, and I am sure youngsters and families will take full advantage of this fantastic new flume."
It will be open to members of the public from 10.45am on Saturday.
